In the same way that people are trained to provide first aid for physical illnesses and injuries, First Aid for Mental Health provides people with the important tools to identify the early warning signs of mental health issues and provide first aid support with confidence.
As a qualified First Aid for Mental Health Instructor, I am passionate about promoting positive mental health and equipping people from all walks of life with the skills to provide an early intervention. Early interventions can reduce distress, help to preserve life, and empower a person experiencing mental ill health to get support for recovery.
Everyone is capable and should deem it necessary to learn the skills to support, listen, and walk alongside somebody who is facing a struggle, or even a crisis. In doing so they can help to speed up a person's recovery and prevent a mental health issue from getting worse - including their own.
